The Quimby Family Foundation has been awarding yearly grants since 2005. We proudly partner with non-profits throughout the state of Maine to promote Human Wholeness. To us, Human Wholeness is physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health and we believe in the inherent value of nature to advance all four.

Gedakina

Gedakina, meaning “our World-Our Way of Living” was founded in Bangor, Maine in 2002. The organization was established by several community members with the goal of creating an inclusive indigenous-led organization that would address a number of interconnected challenges and needs impacting Native youth, women and their families. Gedakina provides an array of interconnected activities focusing on building social equity and justice for indigenous people, with an emphasis on youth and women. Through outdoor educational and cultural activities they embed teachings on a multitude of issues facing indigenous people including hunger and food insecurity, violence, health, education and family engagement.
