The Quimby Family Foundation has been awarding yearly grants since 2005. We proudly partner with non-profits throughout the state of Maine to promote Human Wholeness. To us, Human Wholeness is physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health and we believe in the inherent value of nature to advance all four.
Cultivating Community increases the viability of small-scale, ecologically-grounded food production—commercial and noncommercial—that supports the local, sustainable food system and food security for all; engages communities of children, youth, and adults, ensuring that they are educated about how to grow, prepare, and enjoy healthy food; and develops and sustains—for and with people with low incomes—a proliferation of access-points to healthy, local foods. Since 2001, Cultivating Community has grown sustainable communities by expanding access to healthy, local food; by empowering youth and adults to play diverse roles in restoring the local, sustainable food system; and by modeling, teaching, and advocating for ecological food production.
